Estimator
Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for appraising
vehicle damage to determine cost of repair and preparing insurance
forms to indicate repair cost or cost estimates and recommendations.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent;
A minimum of three (3) years experience in appraising vehicle damage;
Knowledge of automotive repair and paint required; Bureau of Automotive Repair rules and regulations; and mathematical principles (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, and percentages);
Ability to operate manual transmissions; inspect vehicles to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects; coordinate activities with other employees; pay attention to detail; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet and in person; and use standard office equipment;
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable and safe driving record.
Job duties:
Manages repair process of each vehicle to minimize cycle time, meet promised delivery dates, and maximize shop efficiencies.
Examines damaged vehicles to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item on repair order.
Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop managers and team leaders to ensure nothing is missing from repair order.
Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair-cost estimates and recommendations.
Educates the guest on process of getting a vehicle repaired, including insurance procedures, motorist's bill of rights, repair techniques, safety, value and other relevant information.
Maintain communication with guests and insurance representatives regarding any changes in the estimate and/or promised time.
Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fender, and doors.
Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident.
Determines salvage value on total vehicle loss.
Establish long-term positive relationships with guests, insurance representatives and manufacturer.
Answers guest questions over the phone, Internet, and in person.
Performs other specific administrative functions as directed by CRC Management.
Achieves production objectives set by Management
Trains and mentors assigned Estimator Apprentice.
Assist all other areas of the CRC, as needed.
Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.
Maintains a professional appearance at all times.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
